Meet the Secretariat
Marie is a senior majoring in International Relations and minoring in Arabic. Hailing from Sterling, VA, she is honored to be serving as &MUN VIII’s Secretary-General. She travels with William and Mary’s Model UN team competing as a delegate and has in the past served as Under-Secretary-General for Regional Assemblies and Specialized Agencies for William and Mary’s middle school conference, WMIDMUN, and as the Director of Events for &MUN VII. She is thrilled to welcome a great group of delegates back to Williamsburg in April for the eighth iteration of &MUN.
Riley is a junior originally from Roswell, Georgia, and she is majoring in Government. On campus, Riley is heavily involved in the International Relations Club; she was the Under-Secretary General of Specialized Agencies for the William and Mary High School Model United Nations Conference (WMHSMUN) and continues to direct at William & Mary’s other conferences, WMHSMUN and WMIDMUN. She competes heavily on the college Model UN circuit which has allowed her to travel to Panama and Spain among other places. Outside of the International Relations Club, Riley is a Resident Assistant on campus and conducts research for the Global Research Institute. During the fall semester, Riley will be interning for the US State Department in Washington DC. Outside of classwork and extracurriculars, Riley likes to spend her free time hanging in her hammock by the Sunken Garden, walking in Colonial Williamsburg, or playing pool with friends. Riley is excited to help create a conference that delegates from all over the country will love!
Steven Vacnin is a junior at the College majoring in International Relations and minoring in Hispanic Studies. Hailing from Merrick, New York, a suburb of New York City - something he is SURE to remind you at every possible opportunity, he is ecstatic to be serving as the Under Secretary General of Committees for &MUN VIII. Traveling with William and Mary’s Model UN team, Steven served on the C-Team for two years as Director of Internal Logistics and then as Assistant Head Delegate. Steven has also directed at William and Mary’s own model United Nations conferences, WMHSMUN and WMIDMUN, as well has having directed at the previous iteration of &MUN. Outside of IRC, Steven is a member of Dad Jeans Improv Troupe, conducts research with the Global Research Institute, and is a brother of the Phi Sigma Pi national honor fraternity. This past summer, he interned for the New York City Council. He cannot wait to welcome delegates to Williamsburg this coming April!
Director of Registration
Penina Cohen is a Government Major rocking a Geology Minor ready for her senior year at William & Mary. Originally from San Antonio, she can’t wait to serve as Director of Registration this year. Penina has been a member of the International Relations Club at William & Mary since her freshman year and is excited to close out her Model UN career on &MUN Secretariat. Her many experiences in IR Club served her well as she has interned at the Supreme Court and AMTRAK. In her down time, she loves to cuddle with her pug, Mitzi. Penina eager to start sending emails and signing schools up for the best &MUN yet!
Director of External Relations
Charles Coleman is a sophomore at the College and is planning on majoring in Kinesiology and Health Sciences with a concentration in Public Health. Charles has been participating in Model UN since his junior year of high school and is excited to finally work on a conference as a member of the Secretariat. Along with being a member of the International Relations Club, Charles is a member of the College’s student body newspaper, The Flat Hat. While he enjoys traveling the circuit as a delegate, participating as staff for all three of William and Mary’s conferences has produced extremely rewarding experiences. Charles would like to one day use the skills and knowledge he has gained through Model UN to create effective and meaningful health care systems throughout the world and promote health care knowledge. Charles is excited to welcome everyone to &MUN VIII and is positive that this will be a great experience!
Chief of Staff
Isa Lovain is a senior at the College studying International Relations and Africana Studies. Isa directed committees the past two years at &MUN and couldn’t be more excited to be the &MUN Chief of Staff this year. She has been involved with the International Relations Club throughout college, staffing its three conferences every year and travelling on the circuit. Outside of that, Isa is a Peer Advisor at the Reves Center for International Studies, Research Assistant for the Global Research Institute, counselor for Camp Kesem, Orientation Aide, brother of Phi Sigma Pi Honors Fraternity, member of Young Democrats, and part of Intervarsity Christian Fellowship. Last year, she studied abroad in Singapore and is good at bringing it up way too much. Isa is excited for an amazing &MUN this coming April!
Director of Media
Hank Hermens is a sophomore at William & Mary, majoring in History and International Relations. From McLean, Virginia, he is excited for his first secretariat experience as &MUN VIII’s Director of Media. He started model UN his sophomore year of high school at the suggestion of some friends and now competes on W&M’s MUN team. He has directed and crisis staffed a few committees and also serves as the Assistant Alumni Chair of the IRContinues team, part of the International Relations Club dedicated to alumni affairs. Outside of IRC, Hank serves as the Chair of the Student Assembly’s Elections Commission. He also plays trumpet in the Wind Ensemble and is the logistics chair of the John Quincy Adams Society branch on campus. He spent this past summer doing an Arabic immersion program. In his free time, Hank loves to read, run, and travel. He is excited to welcome an awesome assortment of delegates to &MUN VIII!
Director of Events
Camille Zeraat is a sophomore from Fairfax, Virginia, hoping to study International Relations and Economics. She has been involved in Model United Nations since her freshman year of high school and previously served as the Charge D’ Affaires of &MUN VII. Camille has also directed W&M’s wonderful middle and high school conferences. Outside of the International Relations Club, she is a part of the Review Board, Filipino American Student Association, and Alma Mater Productions. Camille spent this past summer interning in Manila, Philippines with a social enterprise aiming to alleviate poverty for Philippine farmers. In her free time, you can probably find her exploring local coffee shops, binging The Office, or attempting to play her ukelele. Camille is excited to be a part of &MUN’s eighth iteration!
Director of Technology
Seth is a sophomore at the College from Mendham, NJ, majoring in Physics and minoring in Mathematics. Outside the lab, Seth is a member of the International Relations Club and the Society of Physics Students, and he works as a Peer Advisor for incoming freshmen. He did mock trial in high school before starting MUN at the College and is excited to help the conference run smoothly as Director of Technology. This past summer, he completed a research project on revolutions and did a study abroad program in Copenhagen, Denmark, focused on Terrorism and Counterterrorism in Europe. In his spare time, Seth can be found wandering aimlessly around Colonial Williamsburg and getting way too many samples at the Peanut Shop and Kilwins. Seth is looking forward to welcoming you to the College for a great &MUN VIII!
