Following in the footsteps of US president Teddy Roosevelt, the natural park conservation committee is dedicated to ensuring protected parks across the world remain dedicated to safeguarding the natural environments of threatened and endangered species alike. With issues like poaching, deforestation, and climate change increasingly threatening these last bastions of ecological purity, it’s up to the UNNPC to work in tandem with NGOs, governments, and scientific institutions to promote policies aimed at curtailing such environmental detractors without compromising local economies contingent on eco-tourism. As the failures of past unilaterally imposed strategies have demonstrated, it is dialogue, cooperation, and transparency that will ensure the world’s largest and most vital ecosystems remain unscathed amid recent environmental crises.

Sarah schulte
Sarah is a senior at William & Mary pursuing a double major in Government and Music. She was born and raised in Louisa, Virginia, and is a tribal member of the Tyendinaga Mohawk (Kanyen’kehá:ka) tribe in Lake Ontario, Canada. In addition to being your director, she competes in collegiate Model UN conferences and serves as the Assistant Head Delegate of General Assemblies for the William & Mary Travel Model UN team. Outside of Model UN, Sarah is a Sharpe and WMSURE scholar, serves as a Tour Guide for William & Mary’s Undergraduate Admissions, is the Marketing chair for the Native American and Indigenous Student Alliance, and performs with the Barksdale Treble Chorus and the Eastern European Instrument and Vocal Ensemble. She loves musical theatre, singing, reading, and drinking tea at the local Spice and Tea Exchange!

alex winkler
Alex Winkler is a sophomore from Annandale, VA majoring in Government. They have been involved in Model UN since seventh grade, and Alex recently served as the USG-Novice for WMHSMUN XXXIX. Alex also enjoys traveling to conferences and working as the co-Director of Logistics for W&M’s travel MUN program. Outside of MUN, you can find them singing in the William & Mary Choir, reading, and exploring all that Colonial Williamsburg has to offer.
