The Arab league: Joint defense council

Location: boswell 302

Established as a regional coalition between 6 Arab states in 1945, the Arab League has evolved and expanded to become a major regional organization of the Arab World. In 1990, Arab League states have gathered within their Joint Defense Council to discuss security threats that affect each nation within it. The main issue on the table? The impending Iraqi invasion of Kuwait in 1990. Set two months before the fateful invasions, delegates will have the chance to debate the Gulf War, potentially change history, and discuss the role of foreign interventionism in the Middle East.

This committee is double delegation and a UNSC equivalent

Director

Julia MAsterman

Julia is a senior majoring in Government and Global Studies with a concentration in Middle Eastern Studies. She has been involved in Model UN at William & Mary since freshman year, which has led her to be the Head Delegate for our competitive team the past two years. A fun fact about Julia is that she was obsessed with the band Paramore growing up and that the first three concerts she ever went to were all Paramore.

Crisis Director

Laila Hall

Laila is a freshman intending to major in history. She started participating in Model UN in middle school and is ecstatic to continue this journey at William & Mary. Outside of MUN, she is a colorguard performer with the Blue Knights Drum & Bugle Corps. A fun fact about her is that she is “really good” at the Dream Trampoline mini-game on the 2012 Sonic & Mario Olympics Wii game.
