A trip through the 2000s, this committee will face a new issue every 2 committee sessions. The first 2 sessions will focus on the WGA strike of 2007-2008, with the Oscars board tasked with formulating a response to this strike. The next 2 sessions, the board will be asked to deal with the diversity issues brought up during the 2015 #OscarsSoWhite social media boycott. For the final session, the committee will focus on the current continuing issues of commercialism and marketing that many claim give certain films an unfair advantage in the awards.

Carter Danto
Carter Danto is a sophomore from Westerly, RI and is a prospective international relations and economics double major. He has traveled with the William & Mary Model UN team and also served as the Under-Secretary General of General Assemblies for WMIDMUN XXI in addition to staffing WMHSMUN XXXVII. Carter is competent at a number of musical instruments and has interests in a diverse set of genres from heavy metal to classical to Irish folk. Outside of the IRC, Carter is involved with the Alexander Hamilton Society, the WCWM Radio Station, and the Meridian Coffeehouse, a student music and arts venue. He is so excited to welcome you all to &MUN XII!

Aashni Jain is a senior at the College of William & Mary this year and an International Relations major and a Data Science minor. Outside of the International Relations Club on campus, she is part of the South Asian Student Association, a Bollywood fusion dance team, a social sorority, and a few honor societies. As for her hobbies, she loves to play the violin, dance, and bake nothing else but banana bread!
