Tale of the Heike: The taira clan

Location: boswell 38

The Tale of the Heike is a foundational epic poem in Japanese literature, often compared to the Iliad in the Western literary canon. But this account of the Genpei War is no myth; this historical struggle between two rival families helped define the political and cultural future of Japan. In this joint crisis committee, delegates will represent members of the Taira and Minamoto clans as they vie for the throne in one of the greatest stories ever recorded in prose.

Director

Lauren Creed

Lauren is a sophomore at William & Mary studying International Relations and Finance. This is her first time directing but was a chair for William & Mary’s high school conference WMHSMUN. Crisis Director

Victoria Baltes

Victoria is a junior at William & Mary, from Stafford, Virginia and is double-majoring in Global Studies and History. She has been an avid fan of Model UN since her first-ever committee during her middle school years, which just so happened to be the long-bygone era of WMIDMUN XIII. This is her fourth time running a committee at the collegiate level, an experience she is very glad to share with you all. Outside of MUN, she spends her time not rushing between classes on the Sunken Gardens, attending various campus social clubs, writing, volunteering with the German department and the Reeves Center for International Studies, working on independent video game development projects, and dabbling in a variety of things she is truthfully not very good at.
